Aaron Baughman (interim pastor) Holy Week & Easter Worship Maundy Thursday Service – April 1 at 7PM Good Friday Service – Apirl 2 at 7PM Easter Service – 10:00AM (no reservations necessary | Seats available on a first come, first serve basis.) MIDWEEK MESSAGE FOR MARCH 31, 2021 Written by Paul Buchholtz Hebrew 6 NRSV: “When God made a promise to Abraham, because he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and multiply you.” ……. We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain where Jesus, a forerunner on our behalf, has entered, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” Being the son of a Lutheran Pastor was not always easy. Being a teenager in the 60’s sometimes made it more difficult. As most teenagers, the things that were tried to be instilled in me mostly went in one ear and out the other. After all, I was a teenager and already knew everything. One thing my dad told me though, has stuck with me all those years. He told me that everyone has an anchor in their life. For some it is their job or career. For others it is their marriage. For others it is their church. These were things that kept people grounded and involved. I was surprised at the time that a pastor would be so realistic about the realities of life. When Karen and I walked into St. Paul for the first time years ago, the first thing I saw was the stained glass window with the anchor in it. I knew that we had found our anchor. – Paul Buchholtz |
