A Midweek MessageJune 23, 2021
 Hello Everyone at St Paul,

This week we continue to take a look at the ELCA’s social statements. This week we will be looking at our news statement: Faith, Sexism, and Justice: A Call to Action. In peace,  Rev. Aaron Baughman (interim pastor) The ELCA Task Force on Women and Justice: One in Christ began its work of listening, study, and resource development in 2012. Following its publication of a draft in November of 2017, it reviewed feedback to the “Draft Social Statement on Women and Justice” at its October 2018 meeting. (See below for the report on the feedback.) The task force then signed off on a proposed social statement at its final meeting in January of 2019: “Faith, Sexism, and Justice: A Lutheran Call to Action.”Following ELCA social statement protocol, the ELCA Conference of Bishops and the ELCA Church Council reviewed the proposed text in early 2019 with the opportunity to make suggestions that clarify and strengthen the proposed document. The Conference of Bishops affirmed the work of the task force in early March. The ELCA Church Council unanimously recommended the Proposed Social Statement to the 2019 ELCA Churchwide Assembly for consideration. The 2019 ELCA Churchwide Assembly considered and voted on amendments to the recommended proposed social statement. On August 9th, 2019 the 2019 ELCA Churchwide Assembly voted to adopted Faith, Sexism, and Justice: A Call to Action and its implementing resolutions.a VIDEO on Gender Justice in the ELCAfor the FULL STATEMENT click here
