The St. Paul quilting group continues with their quilting efforts for this year. We are a small, but dedicated group of quilters with different talents that are greatly appreciated. The congregation was generous during the Lenten Season with monies towards shipping costs of quilts. Thank you
As of June 6, 2019, we have 149 quilts boxed for the fall in-gathering, with more in process. An announcement was posted in the bulletin board for cardboard boxes to be used towards shipping. Since WW (formally Weight Watchers) has fewer classes at our church, they use less product, so we need more boxes.
We have been able to use monies from the Thrivent Action Team funds program to purchase supplies for quilt preparation. The $250 card applied for by Marie was used to purchase quilt batting from a mill in Minnesota.
The $250 card applied by Ruth was used to purchase material. Ruth and Jean went to a fabric warehouse sale on June 8th and purchased around 108 yards of material pieces @ $150.We get a charity donation of fabric scraps and pieces from the same warehouse every 8-12 months. This was the first time the warehouse had a sale in 11 years. It was a well-attended sale by quilters and crafters from Ohio and other states. Some even came from Canada.
Ruth used the remaining $100 on material for 11 quit backs at Jo Ann Fabrics. We are always looking for new members to join our ministry as we continue quilting for Lutheran World Relief.
