A Midweek Message for November 11, 2020Hello people of St. Paul,

Some of these emails look like they are from Rev. Aaron but now some look like they are from congregation members as well. DO NOT reply to these emails, please call the church if you are in question about an email that you received.

Christmas Eve Service
This year there will be one Christmas Eve Service at 6:30pm.  Due to coronavirus restrictions, available seating (sanctuary + Multi-Purpose Room) could be insufficient to meet demand, so advance reservations will be required.  Reservations will be accepted beginning on December 1st.  To make a reservation, please make your request with Jeanine Sherman, via email at jeanine_secretary@sbcglobal.net (preferred method), or telephone (and voicemail) at (614) 563-3230.  Be sure to provide your name and the number of persons who will be attending Christmas Eve Service in your party.
“Lord, you have been our refuge
 from one generation to another.
2Before the mountains were brought forth,
or the land and the earth were born,
from age to age you are God.”
– excerpt from Psalm 90
In my favorite Disney movie, Frozen II, which I have now seen more times then I can count thanks to my 4 and 2 year old, Olfa the talking snowman is always worried about change. In fact, the first time he feels anger he says, “You said some things never change, but since then, everything has done nothing but change.”Change is hard, especially for someone that has the possibility of melting, but for us as well. Perhaps that is why knowing that God has been our unchanging refuge from one generation to another is so reassuring. Olfa also sings a song about our relationship to change, he says,“ I’m not sure I want things to change at all
These days are precious, can’t let them slip away
I can’t freeze this moment, but I can still go out and seize this day
The wind blows a little bit colder
And you all look a little bit older
It’s time to count our blessings beneath an Autumn sky
We’ll always live in the kingdom of plenty
That stands for the good of the many
And I promise you the flag of Arendelle will always fly…..
Some things never change
Turn around in the time that’s flown”Now I know we don’t live in the Arendelle, but we do live in a kingdom of plenty. A kingdom that stands for the good of many, and that is one thing that never changes. So when the world is changing around you, know that you can always keep holding on tight to God.Or, maybe a better way to think about change, is we will always be nostalgic for the past, but God, who was here then, is also here now. So even now, we should not just hope for a future, but rather know that God’s unchanging kingdom of plenty that stands for the good of many is alive now. Psalm 90 ends by saying, “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us.” -In the light of change, may the favor of God be with you always,Rev. Aaron Baughman
