A Midweek Message for November 25, 2020 Hello people of St. Paul, Happy Thanksgiving! This week’s midweek message is a little different than most. I thought I would share with all of you my families holiday card. Normally our family sends out Halloween cards in lieu of Christmas Cards, but this year we thought it might be better to send out a card of Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoy this year’s card! In the peace of Jesus Christ,Rev. Aaron Baughman Interim PastorAt-Home Communion for Everyone Would you like to participate in communion from home? St. Paul is now offering at home communion to everyone who is worshiping from home. Simply send an email to Jeanine at jeanine_secretary@sbcglobal.net or call her at 614-563-3230 to sign up. You will receive a supply of individually wrapped communion kits, enough for your whole family. The first drop off will be around the first Sunday in Advent, which will be November 29th this year. You will receive enough communion kits to get through the whole season of Advent. These communion kits will be blessed by Rev. Aaron before distribution. Be sure to note how many people are in your family when you reply to Jeanine so that we can be sure to get you the right amount. We hope to offer this ministry again during the Christmas season! Thank you Jerry for making this possible! You must request your communion kit by this Friday, November 27!Christmas Eve Service This year we hope to have one Christmas Eve Service at 6:30pm. Due to coronavirus restrictions, available seating (sanctuary + Multi-Purpose Room) could be insufficient to meet demand, so advance reservations will be required. Reservations will be accepted beginning on December 1st. To make a reservation, please make your request with Jeanine Sherman, via email at jeanine_secretary@sbcglobal.net (preferred method), or telephone (and voicemail) at (614) 563-3230. Be sure to provide your name and the number of persons who will be attending Christmas Eve Service in your party. Reservations will close December 20. If we happen to go live stream only for Christmas Eve, if you make a reservation, you will receive a gift basket so you can follow along with the service. We are going to do a live stream for the Advent services on Wednesday and the Christmas Eve service. |
O give thanks to the Lord, for God is good; for God’s steadfast love endures forever. – Excerpt from 1st Chronicles FROM OUR TABLE TO YOURS The picture included in this letter is our table set for a normal everyday breakfast. Ok maybe it is a little more fancy than normal. There is a place setting for Lyric, August, Patty, Aaron, and an open seat for Elijah. Which setting is for who? Setting a place setting for Elijah is a Jewish tradition from Passover. It is believed that Elijah will bring into the home a sense of peace and resolve. For our family it has always been a reminder to be prepared to welcome the unexpected guest and that the guest might bring with them unexpected joys. This year has been full of the unexpected and has led us to question, “how can we be welcoming to others without contact?” Especially when being welcoming to others is how we have shown love. So, as we ponder this question this thanksgiving, we will continue to prepare a place for the unexpected, because embracing the unexpected as a welcomed guest is what has brought us the most joy, peace, and resolve, so far. This Thanksgiving, we pray that your doubts may be resolved and that you may know peace with all the Earth. +In Peace Aaron, Patty, Lyric, August Baughman This Sunday will be livestream ONLY Instructions to watch Live StreamYou don’t have to watch it live.
