Midweek Message from Rev. Aaron Baughman: (4/14/21)

CONVERSATION STARTERS

Over the next few weeks we will be sharing some fun and innovative ways for us to spark conversation during worship. One of these ways is by wearing name tags to help us better identify one another with masks on as well as being more welcoming to visitors. Also we will begin handing out note-cards each week that you can write me a question on and drop in the offering. I will then answer these questions over the coming weeks.  Lastly, we will begin sign ups for what we are calling coffee chats. These will happen after worship and will serve as a time for us all to socialize in a safe manner. Stay Tuned!
A Midweek MessageApril 14, 2021 Dear everyone at St. Paul,In seminary I had the blessing of getting to know a dear friend and now colleague, Daniel Dobo, who is now a Lutheran pastor in Hungary. Daniel came to Trinity on a special scholarship from the Lutheran Seminary in Budapest and we hit it off almost immediately because we found that we both had the same weird sense of humor. The interesting thing about our friendship is that we always saw things on the opposite ends of the spectrum. For example, I was a vegetarian whereas Daneil really loved a good steak. These differences were true also in our politics and theology but our differences only enhanced our conversation. But the two things that really brought  Daneil and I together was again humor and second prayer. We often prayed together and we even started a weekly prayer group on campus. One thing that I still laugh at everytime I go to a bank is Daneil telling me how he would try driving through a bank when he returned home to Hungary and see what happens (there is no drive through banks in Hungary).I have attached to this email Daneil’s favorite prayer – St. Patrick’s breastplate, a prayer that was said daily by many people in Europe during the Middle Ages. In peace,Rev. Aaron Baughman(interim pastor)St. Patrick’s Breastplate Prayer
