A Midweek MessageJune 02, 2021“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” – 2 Corinthians 5:1 |
(transfiguration of Jesus) Did you know that in some cultures, such as indguious Americans, blood or DNA is not important when it comes to family? The way that you become family in some First Nations in the United States is not by who you are related to but by an elder calling you a child or grandchild. This is a hard concept for us to understand in a culture where blood is thicker than water, and because of the role the ‘fake’ West has played into making us believe that Native Americans were all about ‘blood brothers.’ In reality this idea was put onto the Native population by the United States government, who used it as a way to discriminate and give grounds to say that people with native blood were less human. Listen, the earthly tent we live in is not important in God’s eyes. Those Native to the United States knew this well perhaps there is something we can learn from them. How would your life look different if you really believed that the water in baptism made others your own kin? In peace, Rev. Aaron Baghman (interim pastor) This coming Sunday will be in person and livestream We have have returned to in person worship.
