| Life Celebration of Susan Berkemer This Saturday July 10th at 2PM There will be a memorial service for Susan Berkemer this Saturday, July 10th at 2 p.m. at our church. A reception will follow in the Multi-Purpose room with light refreshments. GARDEN GUILD MEETINGSince we are now able to meet in person there will be a meeting on Monday July 12th at 6pm. We have a lot to discuss since our last meeting in early 2020. Hope to see you there.Collections for July During the month of July we’ll be collecting items of need for our veterans (male and female) at the Columbus VA Hospital. A Midweek Message Hello Everyone at St Paul,This week we continue to take a look at the ELCA’s social statements. This week we will be looking at our social message on Abortion. This is one of the more difficult topics within the social statements of the ELCA. I hope that by sharing these statements with you it will at the very least spark some thought and conversation for you and help you understand where our church stands on these issues. In peace, Rev. Aaron Baughman (interim pastor)  The ELCA’s social statement entitled Abortion is grounded in the conviction that “Christians are united in Christ through faith with both the freedom and obligation to engage in serious moral deliberation.” (page 1) As ELCA social teaching it draws upon this community’s faith tradition that understands God’s life-giving purposes as pressing “beyond the usual ‘pro-life’ versus ‘pro-choice’ language.” (page 2) The social statement provides guidance for pastoral care and deliberation regarding unintended pregnancies as well as basic themes for reflecting on and discussing public policy issues.
