Please convey our thanks to all. This year the process was more difficult and some members even brought cans to our home. It was a SUPER effort by all and LSS Food Pantry is appreciative“Yet even now, says the Lord,
return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
rend your hearts and not your clothing.
Return to the Lord, your God,
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love,
and relents from punishing. “

 Ash Wednesday

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday
and here I sit knowing I will not get ashes!
No ashes on Wednesday is like no pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

 So yes, Lent is a little different this year.  Yet the ashes are there.  Reminders of our sin and errant ways are all around us.  Ashes of the pandemic, ashes of racial strife, ashes of political radicals and certainly, ashes of death.  Perhaps I can go without another reminder that – you are dust and to dust you shall return.  Maybe this Lent will indeed have us “return to the Lord”.  Maybe this Lent will remind us why we fast.  Maybe this Lent we will rend our hearts and look ahead to that day that we are so aptly reminded that God IS gracious and merciful.
 Have a safe and sincere journey to the cross. – Larry Baker
